TMJ-TMD
TMD affects the jaw joints (TMJs), causing discomfort in the jaw, face, neck, and head. These joints are used constantly—for talking, chewing, yawning—and when they’re not functioning properly, it can result in persistent pain or restricted movement.
Common signs of TMD include:
- Jaw pain or tightness
- Clicking, popping, or locking of the jaw
- Headaches or neck aches
- Ringing or pressure in the ears
- Muscle soreness or spasms
- Bite changes or limited mouth opening
If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, let us know. We’ll assess your jaw function and build a treatment plan tailored to your needs.
Not all jaw pain is TMD.
Other factors like posture, teeth grinding, and poor habits can cause similar discomfort. Here are a few prevention tips:
- Keep lips relaxed, teeth slightly apart
- Avoid gum and nail biting
- Don’t clench your jaw or rest your chin on your hand
- Use both sides of your mouth when chewing
- Practice good posture and limit phone cradling
If you’re concerned about your jaw pain or suspect TMD, schedule a consultation—we’re here to help you find relief.
